Last year, from 8th till 21st November 2020, the Indian Cultural Society (ICS) of Brickfields Asia College brought together parents and students of BAC, and members of the public for a celebratory mood as Deepavali Kondattam and Diwali Dhamaka kicked off in full-on festive mode.
The event conducted was a virtual competition and Deepavali celebration, aimed at keeping the community connected and active amidst a global pandemic, utilising social media to promote a sense of goodwill.
Special guests Mr. Raja Singham (Managing Director of Brickfields Asia College) and Mrs. Thevaroobini, (ICS Club Advisor) graced the event and participated in some of the activities launched. This event also saw the participation of the Indian Cultural Society of Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (ICS UniSZA) and the Indian Cultural Society of International University of Malaya-Wales (ICS IUMW), which brightened and made the festivities an even livelier one, as new connections and friends were made throughout the 13-day event.
With positive feedback, participants had a great time competing and engaging in the virtual night programme. The competitions held throughout saw active participation with good response from the public. The three judges, Mrs. Thevaroobini, Ms. Sharmila Saravanan (former ICS Vice President) and Mr. Rubhern Raj (former ICS President), evaluated artworks and data submitted for all mini competitions.
Organizing Chairperson, Yeshanthan Nair A/L Gopalakrishnan, revealed the winners of the various competitions during the virtual celebration ‘Diwali Dhamaka‘ on November 21st, marking the close of the event, and hopes that the year 2021 will see an even better celebration.
