Professional Portfolio Preparation Masterclass – IACT College

On 9 and 10 June 2021, the Professional Portfolio Preparation Masterclass was held by the Professional Communications Faculty of IACT College. This workshop was a collaboration between IACT College and Reliance College, led by guest speaker Leo Burnett’s Creative Group Head, Jovian Lee as well as experienced corporate communications practitioner, Ann Teoh. The workshop was held between 5.00 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. on each day over Microsoft Teams. 


The masterclass was carried out with the objective to develop student’s skills and thinking in planning and building a professional portfolio of work. The workshop also included skills to build a creative portfolio of work in the students’ own specialised area of study. Aimed at final semester diploma students in Advertising & Marketing, Film & Broadcasting, Graphic Design, and PR, the workshop sessions taught skills to develop a professional portfolio that is able to stand up to the scrutiny of the competitive communications industry. Reliance College students also benefited from the sessions.

There were up to 130 students between 19 to 21 years of age from both colleges who attended the masterclass. Besides students, both colleges’ administrative, lecturers, and student engagement staff attended. From IACT College, Head of Academics Mr Timothy Chan, lecturers Miss Ain, Miss Farah, Mr. Kenneth, Mr. Joseph, admins Miss Sugannia and Miss Yante, as well as student engagement staff Mr Lawrence Chan and Mr Shyam Kumar attended the workshop. From Reliance College were Mr. Johan, Dr Loke, Miss Rosita, Mr. Aidi, and Mrs. Nurliana.

All in all, the Masterclass was very insightful and proved to be a success. Students were very participative and gave positive feedback. IACT lecturer Miss Farah had even invited Mr. Jovian to be guest judge for the Portfolio Building module to provide feedback on her students’ final project presentation.
