Last year’s Deepavali celebration had to be something different just like every festive occasion celebrated during the CMCO. To meet this challenge, the Indian Cultural Society (ICS) of BAC came up with the idea of an event called DEEPAVALI KONDATTAM & DIWALI DHAMAKA, which ran from 8th-21st November. It was a unique combination of an online competition and virtual Deepavali celebration. The society’s idea behind the competition and celebration was their way to stay involved and active as a student club during the pandemic by providing a platform to showcase talents from the community.
There was something for everyone when it came to the online competition with five categories to choose from – Kolam, Poster, Kahoot, Artistic and Essay Writing.
Open to the public, students of BAC, as well as their parents, the event was officiated by Mr. Raja Singham, the Managing Director of Brickfields Asia College, and Ms. Thevaroobini the Club Advisor of ICS.
BAC’s ICS received overwhelming support. As in the case of all events, it takes support and participation to make it a success, and this came by way of two other very active Indian Cultural Societies, namely, ICS Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (ICS UNISZA) and ICS International University of Malaya-Wales (ICS IUMW).
This month-long event culminated with Diwali Dhamaka on 21st November itself, with the winner of the online competition announced by the Organizing Chairperson of the event.
