Mum Pei Shan receives the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award for Top in the World – A-Level Law
Three Brickfields Asia College (BAC) A-Level students, received the prestigious Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award for their excellent results in the Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) 2018. The CIE A –Levels is the world’s most recognised pre-university programme. BAC is reputed for its CIE A-Level Programme due to its outstanding track record now in its sixth consecutive year.
In the June 2018 examination, Lee Ji Kean scored the highest marks in Malaysia for A-Level Business while Teoh May Xuan won the top award in Malaysia for A-Level Law. Mum Pei Shan secured the top score in the world for AS Level Law and more recently outdid herself in the November 2018 examination, securing the highest score in the world for A-Level Law.
Acknowledging her love for the study and practice of law, Pei Shan never expected that it would be possible to obtain top marks for the A-Level Law paper. Commenting on why BAC was her preferred choice, she said, “The reason I chose BAC instead of other colleges was because it was recommended by my relatives who had a great experience at BAC.” Pei Shan is grateful for the 24 hour library facility which helped her to focus during the crucial revision period.
Pei Shan’s most memorable experience thus far is “group studies with friends as it was fun and helped to relieve stress”. She credits her achievements to her parents, lecturers and the staff of BAC for their assistance and guidance as well as her friends who have supported and encouraged her throughout A-Levels.
As to her advice to students sitting for their A-Level examination, she said “one should read all the materials provided by BAC and regularly check their understanding of the subject matter with the team of highly dedicated lecturers”.
Meanwhile Teoh May Xuan, enjoyed her student life at BAC because it simply isn’t all about studies but also pursuing a healthy lifestyle and forging friendships. In her own words, she says, “During breaks, I would go to the cafeteria with my friends to have coffee or just chat, some days I would go to the gym for Zumba or yoga classes which I like very much”. May Xuan who cites contract law as her favourite subject, credits her contract law lecturer, Mr Pradeep, “a passionate and dedicated lecturer” who sparked her interest in contract law and “is willing to sacrifice his time and make the effort” to ensure his students score good grades.
Describing his BAC experience, Lee Ji Kean said, “I like the learning experience here because the environment is very conducive to learning.” The top scorer whose favourite subject is Economics which gave him invaluable insights on how economic theories relate to government policies, credits a long list of his lecturers for sparking his interest in the subject and ultimately his success – “I like the very humorous Mr Siva who guided me through AS Law, the knowledgeable Mr Raymond who knew a lot of things about the commercial world…..and my tutor, Ms Myuree who was also excellent and supportive”. He added, “the lecturers contributed to my success and were an indispensable part of my learning progress”.
