Christmas came early to The Atria Shopping Gallery this year with IACT College students organising the Christmas event on 23 November 2019 for the shopping mall located in Damansara Jaya. Themed “Tis the Season to Boogie”, this public event was the kick-off of The Atria’s Christmas programme.
“Tis the Season to Boogie” recorded over 370 participants across all ages, with whole families coming to join in the festive Christmas mood. The main theme for the event was based on a typical 70’s Christmas. Throughout the event, 70’s Christmas songs and top hits from the era were played to entertain the visitors. Activities during the event included a Line Dancing Performance by individuals of all ages, a 70’s Best Dressed competition, displays of board games from vendors and sponsors (Alchymy, Hardknocks, Lepak Game, Tabletop). There was also a brisk sale of mugs, calendars, and stickers by Calligirlsquad.
This event was organised by P.R. Campaign Strategies students from the Diploma in Mass Communication programme. Like true P.R. professionals, the students took complete charge of the event concept, budget planning, sponsorship, media relations, publicity and overall event design. Digital marketing and pre-event video publicity across all the digital media platforms were generated by marketing and advertising and convergent journalism diploma students. Students doing their Serving Our Society module sold cookies and brownies raising RM3,300 for their selected charity, The Shelter Home for Children.
The event was officiated by Y.B. YB Jamaliah Jamaluddin, the Selangor State Assembly Representative for Damansara Jaya.
