BAC Leo Club Blood Donation Drive 2020: Heroes Come In All Types

“Donate blood and a save a life!”

On the 15th and 16th of February 2020, the Leo Club of BAC held a blood donation drive at Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), Paradigm Mall located in Petaling Jaya. Sponsored by the Lions Club of Kuala Lumpur (Host), the main objective of the event was to raise awareness on the shortage of blood supply in the country and the need for fellow Malaysians to donate blood as much as possible.

The first day began with a free eye check-up by Lion Club member, Foo Yaw Cheen assisted by BAC Leo Club member, Kishant Krysa.

Free blood screening by the National Diabetes Institute was also available on the first day of the event.

The National Diabetes Institute headed by Ms Parameas and her team conducted a free blood screening for potential donors and members of the public. 10 Leo Club members volunteered on the first day of the drive with a successful collection of 54 pints of blood.

On Sunday, the final day of the drive, 11 volunteers were present to handle a larger crowd within the first half of the day. A total of 79 pints of blood were collected and 91 members of the public benefited from the free eye check-up.

At the end of the 2-day blood donation drive, the team of volunteers were thrilled to exceed their target with a total collection of 133 pints of blood in the hope of reducing the shortage of blood supply in Malaysia.
