A short film screening event titled, “Lumiere Premiere” was organised by IACT College’s Final Year Diploma in Broadcasting & Film students on Friday, 13th December 2019 at MMCineplexes, eCurve Damansara. The event enabled students to showcase their work to the public to top off their 2.5 year studies in theoretical and practical broadcasting and filmmaking under the guidance of experienced lecturers.
Three films were featured at the event. “Rapuh”, highlights the fragile nature of family relationships during a family crisis while “Missed Call” depicts a father’s unspoken love for his adult daughter who moves to the city for work, and “Nascent” relates the story of family pressure that prevented a young student from pursuing her passion for photography. All three movies emphasised family struggles, done with excellent story telling and cinematographic skills.
A total of 308 attendees including family, friends, members of the public and well-known film and media professionals graced the event. Special guests were Mr Lawrence Chan (COO of IACT College), Mr Timothy Chan (Academic Head of IACT College), Broadcasting & Film lecturers, IACT staff and sponsors.
The short films received good feedback from the audience during the Q&A session after each film screening.
The Lumiere Premiere event team also donated RM1,500 to the Free Tree Society Kuala Lumpur, an environmental organisation that gives away free trees to green our Earth by spreading the environmental stewardship message.
